Ladies are you all as excited as me? Casio Baby-G teams up with Hellz for this dope collaboration. The style of these watches pays homage to the 1980′s and NYC. “Adding a playful feel to the iconic Casio watch , “The Taxi” and “The Polka Dot” are key accessories for today’s girl-on-the-go.”

Urban Exploring: Hugo @ Rockwood

ASmalls and I went to check up on Roc Nation’s Hugo live in NYC at the Rockwood Music Hall. A small but soulful venue, with 2 levels to view live entertainment. I enjoyed his music, song after song. His music is very energetic while maintaining a cool soulful feel. Hugo, is definitely an entertainer, with jokes prior to each song, making faces at the ladies and actually helping himself to a glass of water from a guest sitting in front of him. Hugo packed the building Tuesday night and had a special guest “Jay-Z” to watch his fellow Roc Nation artist perform in NYC.  This place was so cool, you wouldn’t even have known Jay was there. No pictures, no autographs and no groupies. I can’t wait to go back.

SOLO PROJECT #3: OPEN ENDED:SOLO PROJECT #3: OPEN ENDED:  IVAN F. PETROVSKY AKA MR. MUSTART

July 16, 2010 – August 27, 2010
Opening Reception: Friday, July 16th
6 pm – 10 pm
Lobby Art by Marc D’Agusto
Open to the Public – Free – DJ TF Dutchman
Grub & Grog provided by Hell’s Kitchen Lounge – After Party at Hell’s Kitchen Lounge

Mr. Mustart has been gracing Newark’s walls inside and out for the last several years. Using a variety of both traditional & nontraditional materials, Mr. Mustart collages together ideas of progress and forward movement.

To Mustart, reality is “unreal,” and thus can be changed and molded like any other work of art. Reality can “grow into something else, something that instead of destruction can give birth to even more positive creativity.”

Using the Solo(s) Project House gallery space, Mr. Mustart invites us to take a fun-house ride though the artist psyche. Challenging the viewer’s perception of reality, he utilizes performance, as well as visual manifestations of his normal. As you buckle in to Mr. Mustart’s physical and visceral vocabulary the end which seems so concrete, becomes far reaching and open ended.

Spotting Freshness: Lincoln Park Music Festival Branding and Web

No Comments 13 July 2010

The 5th anniversary of the Music Festival at Lincoln Park called for an update in marketing and design, with social media taking a front-and-center role. First we started with a new design that includes a brighter and bolder color scheme to grab attention. We kept some of the old branding elements from the previous year to maintain familiarity, but the goal was to make a flier can also serve as a keepsake. The “5″ is the eye-catching feature in the image, and we will use a silver treatment to give this flier a little more value.

The big digital piece of this project centers on a landing page on the Lincoln Park site dedicated to the Music Festival, which serves as a portal to the festival’s social media. From here viewers can view and download the itinerary and have one-click access to all of the festival’s social features, including a flickr photo gallery, Youtube videos from last year’s event, and real-time updates on Facebook and Twitter. If you went last year, you can talk about your favorite acts and your plans for this year. If you’re new to the event, join the conversation and hear about must-sees directly from the fans.

Urban Explorers: RECAP: Collect This

No Comments 06 July 2010

Who said hard work doesn’t pay off? For weeks we planned, created and dreamed for a great turn out. And, we got what we wanted! The first step of the idea was just thinking of how could we use this space, then we thought… we’re a creative agency so why not host an art gallery? Then giving the event a title came into play, the studio is named “239 Collective”. The name come from our street address and us having a three level building that contains a creative agency, 2 lifestyle blogs, architectural firms and just some awesome creative people. So combining all of that with working together and getting almost any type of job done together creates a “collective”. June 24th was the night, 7pm was the time and at 7:30 we were already packed! The night went into 2am, music still bumping by DJ Andres. A little bit of jazz, hiphop, dance, r&b  and an hour dedicated to MJ (Micheal Jackson). The art was awesome and the crowd was very diverse, cool, and collective. Drinks were provided by Hell’s Kitchen. I enjoyed myself, friends, colleagues, follow artoholiks and esco (the studio dog).  From what I hear everyone utilized the items in the gift bags Jmine and I bust our asses for. Enjoy the photos!

Urban Explorers: International T-Shirt Day

4 Comments 01 July 2010

In case you didn’t know, last week Monday (June 21st) was not only the first day of summer, but it was also International T-Shirt Day. In honor of this awesome “holiday” I went Urban Exploring in Soho and landed inside of Sweet & Vicious Bar for an International T-Shirt Day event. Let me tell you why this event was so dope:

* Open bar & free snacks!!!!
* T-shirt Doctor station (you got to bring your favorite tee to be nipped, tucked and bedazzled by the pro!)
* You had a chance to make or find a t-shirt on CafePress to add to your collection (it was free to attendees!)
* The Catwalk! We got to strut our tee on the “red carpet runway” and got your picture taken
* The “T-shirt Gallery” was filled with the top political, pop culture and cause-related designs
* You got to chat it up with other t-shirt enthusiasts

I had a blast! Shout out to everyone who came out and was a good sport! Enjoy my pics lovers!
